Lemon Pie Recipe

The other day my sister and I decided to make a little lemon pie. We've just made one lemon pie before and that was years ago, so I started looking for recipes and, since I didn't really like any of them completely, I took like three different ones and with them I created one I actually liked, so I thought of sharing it with you :)

I'm going to separate this recipe into three parts, just like I did when creating it and making the pie ourselves: crust, filling and cream. So let's begin!

Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014)

I must admit that I wasn’t really looking forward to this movie a few months ago, until the trailer came out… Because wow, that trailer was awesome!

I read The Hunger Games trilogy some years ago and, even though I loved the first two books, I wasn’t a big fan of Mockingjay. It’s not that I didn’t like it, I did enjoy the first part of the book (maybe the first half or first two thirds? I don’t really remember), because… well, there are some things that happen there that I didn’t love and didn’t find necessary, but I won’t be spoiling it for you.

Outlander - Season 1 (Part 1)

As I’ve told you before, I really love the book Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, I’ve actually read the first books in the series and they’re all wonderful, even if they’ve hurt my feelings (A LOT) more than once.

The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey #4) by Julie Kagawa + Extra

Title: The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey #4)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance, Adventure
Published: October 2011

My Rating: 4/5

'My name - my True Name - is Ashallayn’ darkmyr Tallyn. I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her. My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl…'

To cold faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.

Then Meghan Chase - a half human, half fey slip of a girl - smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.

With the unwelcome company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end - a quest to find a way to honor his vow to stand by Meghan's side.

To survive in the Iron Realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. And along the way Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Halloween Costume Ideas

Guess who’s really boring and is not dressing up for Halloween! Woooo!!

Some friends and I were thinking of having a horror movie marathon after getting some things done for university this weekend and I thought ‘Well, I may dress up for that then’. But out of nowhere came a lot more work to do, so we won’t be having time for that. Sad, I know.

So I’ve been celebrating Halloween this week in my one way in the little free time I’ve been able to get my hands on.

My name is Meghan Chase. I thought it was over.

That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey #2) by Julie Kagawa

Title: The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey #2)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance, Adventure
Published: August 2010

My Rating: 5/5

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.

Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

Title: The Iron King (The Iron Fey #1)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance, Adventure

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

11735983https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17383918-allegiant

Today I’m going to be talking about the Divergent series, BUT this time I seriously need to say some things that will contain MAJOR spoilers, I’ll hide that section so anyone who wants to read it just needs to click on the button, if you haven’t read the series then stay away from that button :) don’t click it, don’t.

I think most of you already know what this series is about, since the first movie recently came out; for those of you who don’t (or those who need a reminder), it’s about a dystopian city, where people are divided into five factions: Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless and Erudite. Once a person turns 16, they have the option of choosing if they want to stay in their faction or if they want to change to another one, there’s an aptitude test they have to go through that may help them with their decision, but it’s entirely up to them what they choose to do. This series tells the story of Beatrice Prior, also known as Tris, who is an Abnegation member but doesn’t feel like she belongs there, so she struggles between having to stay in Abnegation or change factions and, with that, leave her family behind. Not just that, but Tris has a secret she can’t tell anyone… she’s divergent. Dun dun duuuun…

How to Make a Life Ring

So, lately I've been trying to be more productive and get a lot of things done before going back to class (I can get really bored when I'm not doing anything). One of the things I've been doing is courses on Coursera and I have to say that it's been a lot of fun! :)

One of the courses I'm taking is called Creativity, Innovation and Change and I wanted to talk to you about the assignment we got this week. Most Coursera courses work with weekly videos and an assignment or quiz you have to turn in at the end of the week.

So this week we had to make something called Life Ring. I was a little bit confused at first but when I started making it, little by little, I had a lot of fun and found it to be very useful for my life right now. I won't give you the exact instructions on how to make one, because that's something the teachers of the course provided for us and I don't consider it to be right, but I'll explain the idea of this activity so you can make one yourself, I'm pretty sure there are other instructions out there on how to make this, since I've already seen some life rings out there made by other people.

Now, at first I wasn't sure I wanted to share mine, because it can be a little personal, but I think it can be very helpful to others too. So here's the one I made:

Liebster Award

So I had already seen the Liebster Award logo, but I didn’t really know much about it. I was recently nominated for this award by the lovely Fiz and I have to say that I’m really thankful, because I’ve found through this a lot of new interesting blogs to follow and it’s been a lot of fun! :)

Maleficent (2014)

A few days ago I went to see Maleficent, I had been waiting for this movie since it looked really promising and I LOVE all about the princesses and the classics… And it didn’t disappoint me. I actually went to see it a second time the same week, which I rarely do. As always, I’ll try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible ;)

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

Title: Wuthering Heights
Author: Emily Brontë
Genre: Classic, Gothic
Published: December 1847

My Rating: 1/5

Wuthering Heights is a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries. The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moorland setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature.

Catcalling / Street Harassment

Like I’ve mentioned before, I live in Venezuela… and you have no idea how bad this problem is over here…

It’s IMPOSSIBLE to walk just ONE single block without getting a nasty comment from a guy. I’ve even been followed. And sometimes, if I don’t answer (because apparently you have to thank those guys for sexually harassing you!), I’ve been insulted. I would never walk on the streets here wearing a skirt or shorts, I’ve never done it, never will (although I've realized that what you're wearing doesn't make much of a difference in these cases).

The Selection + The Elite by Kiera Cass

I know I have not been writing lately, if you follow me on Twitter you’d know by now that I live in Venezuela… and things here are not pretty. I decided I needed to let my mind rest for just a little while tonight, so I thought I’d write about these books I read, they’re part of a trilogy, although I found out the third one has not been released yet when I was reading the second one *sigh*…

Frozen (2013)

Don’t worry, I’ll try to keep this spoiler-free… I bet most of you have already seen this movie. I’m definitely one of those people who became addicted to it and to all the songs! They’re really beautiful, especially Let It Go and Do You Want to Build a Snowman? I haven’t been able to get them out of my head for weeks ._. I’ve listened to a lot of versions in different languages, especially Let It Go, my favorite one is definitely the one in Latin American Spanish, the singer is great and the lyrics were translated beautifully, although I must say that pretty much all the women who do Elsa’s voice are amazing singers!
